The European Commission's Research DG has issued a call for tenders for support in a study on local ethical committees for animal welfare.
The European Commission intends to launch an invitation to tender within the framework of the European research area and the implementation of the science and society action plan ethics committees.
The purpose of this tender is:
- to provide an analysis of the animal welfare committees present in the EU and in the candidate countries (including their remit, operating procedure, methodology, composition, institutional affiliation),
- to establish a directory of established animal welfare committees in the EU and candidate countries.
The contract will contribute to the European research area and the Sixth Framework programme rules of ethics. The contract will allow the promotion of best practices in the work of animal ethics committees and produce both a survey and a comparative analysis of practices adopted in local ethics committees across Europe.
