To mark its 50th anniversary, CERN (the European organisation for nuclear research) is organising an open day to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 16 October.
CERN, one of Europe's first joint ventures, is now one of the world's leading fundamental research institutions with collaborators from over 80 different countries.
As part of this open day, 50 different sites will open their doors to enable participants to discover CERN in its entirety.
