Brussels, 24 Sep 2003

The intelligent transport systems (ITS) congress and exhibition 'moving towards an integrated Europe' will take place in Budapest, Hungary, from 24 to 26 May 2004.

'The main goal of the congress is to place a special focus on the integration of the Central and Eastern European countries into the enlarged European Union through the application of interoperable intelligent transport systems and services,' writes EU Commissioner for Enterprise and the Information Society Erkki Liikanen in the event's draft programme. 'I have no doubt that the congress will be successful at identifying strategies and priorities in the field of ITS to help us all achieve our common objectives,' he continues.

The conference will include discussions on e-safety in an enlarged EU, intelligent vehicle safety systems and ITS for multimodal services without borders.

Remarks: Interested parties are invited to submit contributions before 1 December 2003.
