Who says that the Higher Education Funding Council for England is a dreary place to work? For months, funding council staff have been making their own amusement using the organisation's system of open electronic diaries, which allow staff to keep tabs on the whereabouts of their colleagues. The game has been to spot when the whereabouts of chief executive Sir Howard Newby coincided with that of a member of his widening participation team, Sheila Watt. Last week, Dr Watt left for a new job at PricewaterhouseCoopers - but not before the pair announced their intention to wed in the autumn. The Diary offers its congratulations to both of them.
