Mr Willetts outlines the rationale behind the government’s investment in “eight great technologies”, which include big data, space and synthetic biology, and discusses the coalition government’s approach to research funding.

In a panel discussion chaired by Paul Willis, director of the Royal Institution of Australia, Mr Willetts is joined by Ian Chubb, chief scientist of Australia, and Margaret Sheil, provost of the University of Melbourne.
