A CANADIAN professor of medicine accused of murder and awaiting trial is back teaching at the hospital where she was arrested.
Nancy Morrison, accused of killing a patient by injection, was arrested in May at Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, a Dalhousie University teaching hospital, where she works as a respirologist. She was released on bail.
Paul Mills, 65, died last November in the intensive care unit of the QEII. He had been suffering from advanced cancer of the esophagus. Few details of the charges have been released to the media, which cannot publish news of the bail hearing.
After that hearing, Dr Morrison had been on paid voluntary leave. She still holds a medical licence and, according to the QEII chief executive officer, the hospital had no reason to restrict her from seeing patients, many of whom have wanted her back.
She has also returned to teaching duties with residents and medical school students in the hospital. A preliminary hearing takes place next February.
