The Department for Education and Employment has committed itself to "making a reality of lifelong learning" in its draft strategic framework for the next five years, spelled out in a consultation document, Learning and Working Together for the Future. Making decisions in response to the Dearing report, improving quality assurance for post-16 education, developing broader A levels and upgrading vocational qualifications are among the "priority tasks". The forthcoming lifelong learning white paper will set the agenda for achieving many of these tasks. Responses are invited by December 23.
