AN ON-LINE centre for research into digital broadcasting and multimedia opened this week. The Virtual Centre of Excellence unites research at sites countrywide electronically pooling information and making it available to partners. The VCE has a grant of Pounds 863,660 from the Department of Trade and Industry, is part-funded by industry and will compete for UK and European programmes.
