Prince Philip has made yet another gaffe. At the opening of a new research centre at the University of York last weekend, he told bemused onlookers: "It is surprising the way things have changed since I first became chancellor of the university 50 years ago."
The university is only 40 years old and its chancellor is opera singer Dame Janet Baker. Prince Philip, who is chancellor of Cambridge University, is thought to have become confused by his schedule - he was later a guest at a dinner hosted by the Cambridge Society of York.
