A Monopoly game based on the academic and civic landmarks of Newcastle will be launched this month.
The game is the brainchild of designer Mark Marriot, who studied at the university between 1993 and 1996. It features landmarks around the university campus and the city centre, including the university quadrangle and Gateshead's Angel of the North. The designers quizzed students about what they wanted to see on the board and some of their suggestions made it to the finished product.
Ian Kitchen, communications officer at Newcastle University student union, said: "I suggested that one of the comm-unity chest cards should include a night in the union bar, which costs the player £30. There's also the possibility of picking up a chance card for a hangover, which moves the player back three spaces."
