The meeting was chaired by Dr. MITSOS (European Commission, Director General for Research). In the temporary absence of the Chairman, points 1-3, 5-8 were chaired by Mr. ESCRITT (Commission services).
1. ADOPTION OF THE DRAFT AGENDA
The Committee adopted the agenda as set out in communication CM 3242/04 of 14 September 2004. Points 1-3, 5 - 8 were treated in the morning, point 4 in the afternoon.
2. APPROVAL OF THE DRAFT SUMMARY CONCLUSIONS OF THE 295th MEETING
The Committee approved the summary conclusions set out in doc. CREST 1205/04 .
3. INFORMATION FROM THE PRESIDENCY AND THE COMMISSION
a) Mr. VAN KOOIJ (Dutch Presidency) informed the Committee on progress of work during the Dutch Presidency, in particular: - the outcome of the Competitiveness Council meeting of 24 September 2004, which adopted conclusions on the evaluation of the new instruments of the 6th Framework Programme and on the future European Union policy to support research1, as well as
