The Australian Federal Minister for Science, Peter McGauran, will open a two day forum for European-Australian S&T cooperation (FEAST) in Canberra, Australia, on 17 June.
The conference will promote scientific interchange and policy discussion between Australia and Europe while increasing awareness of the state of play of research on opposite sides of the world. The event also aims to facilitate joint research projects.
The focus of the conference will be:
- the forms and capabilities of networks;
- how research priorities will shape excellent science;
- the role of international exchange in training and development;
- the social responsibility of science.
Discussions will cover the following themes: agriculture and sustainable development; the role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in science; life sciences, genomics and biotechnology for health; and nanotechnology and nanosciences.
