Focus of lifelong learning criticised

The government's lifelong learning policies are too focused on overcoming individual failure, according to academics at the Institute of Education last week.

Experts in all fields of education agreed that the approach needed to shift towards building young people's confidence in themselves as learners from a very early age if lifelong learning was to achieve its goals.
