Gene discovery causes rise in firm's shares

Shares in biotechnology company Chiroscience soared this week as it announced it has discovered the gene that controls the human autoimmune system. The discovery could help with development of treatment for a range of diseases.

The firm has links with Exeter University's chemistry department where it is helping to fund research by Jenny Littlechild into the structure of proteins.
