Applications are invited from well-advanced PhD students at British and Irish universities who need to spend 1-6 months in Germany collecting/ undertaking research for their PhD thesis or postdoctoral research projects. Applicants should be no more than 35 years of age when taking up the grant. Applicants should possess adequate knowledge of the German language to carry out their proposed research. Non-British students eligible as long as they have been in the UK for at least one year. German citizens can only apply if they have been in the UK for at least 6 years.
Deadlines for 2001: 13 April 2001 (for trips in or after July 2001) and 12
October 2001(for trips in or after February 2002). Grants carry 1-6 months funding, plus travel sum.
