Canada-UK partnership on antibiotic resistance
The two teams of scientists will combine their research strengths in an effort to advance the approach to antibiotic resistance from biomedical research to clinical practice. One of the project's aims is to understand how bacteria build key components in their cell walls. The researchers intend to use resulting discoveries to develop new antimicrobials and identify new antimicrobial targets. Other project work will address the increase in resistance to key antibiotics used to fight hospital-acquired infections in a bid to create more effective inhibitors.
