A STRIKE is likely at Greenwich University following plans for up to 14 redundancies, which the union said will "decimate" teacher training there. Natfhe, the lecturers' union, has discussed industrial action after the university announced plans to scrap eight of 11 secondary teacher training subject groups, cutting 11.7 full-time equivalent academic staff and two support staff. The university hopes to avoid compulsory redundancies. The plans are a result of a Teacher Training Agency decision to start procedures to "de-accredit" courses because of poor Ofsted inspections in three subject areas.
