Ispra (IT): The contribution of three JRC (Joint Research Centre) scientists, Nadine Gobron, Bernard Pinty and Michael Verstraete of IES' Global Vegetation Monitoring unit, to the Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) team has been acknowledged as a group achievement with the prestigious NASA Honor Award for 2001. After seven years of intense work, JRC's innovative algorithms have been implemented in the ground segment of the Terra spacecraft that carries the MISR instrument.
NASA Honor Awards are the highest form of recognition that the Agency bestows to employees, contractors and members of the community and are presented to a number of carefully selected individuals and groups, both government and non-government, who make outstanding contributions to the NASA mission.
