A London university is to reinstate the Doctor of Science award for its staff and graduates. Imperial College London said the DSc would be awarded for published work that has advanced knowledge and has given the candidate distinction in their field of study. Those considered must have obtained a degree from Imperial or have been a member of its academic staff for at least two years. The University of London, from which Imperial College has separated, abolished its higher doctorates in 2001.
