In his own words: an image of linguistics guru Noam Chomsky has been created by Nicholas Wade, professor of visual psychology at Dundee University. Titled Deep Structure , it features phrases that have all been invented by Chomsky arranged in alphabetical order. Professor Wade, who wrote out all the words by hand, has also included Chomsky's name and a final word, 'verbarian,' or coiner of phrases. Professor Wade gave the keynote address at last weekend's 13th international Scottish Word and Image Group conference, hosted by Dundee's English department. The conference organiser, Christopher Murray, a lecturer in English, said: 'The idea of illusion is close to the heart of what drives word and image studies. This field is really all about that mysterious, rather magical moment in which words and images meet'
