Ferrying vice-chancellors from A to B is rather less costly than the above, but the University of Central Lancashire is still prepared to pay up to Pounds 16,000 for a "smart, professional and tactful" chauffeur for its vice-chancellor, Malcolm McVicar. The move has riled university staff given that Dr McVicar recently invited them to "have an office party every day"
by sharing their cars on the ride to work.
A university spokesperson said the chauffeur-driven car acts as a mobile office for the vice-chancellor, so perhaps the advert should read chauffeur/personal assistant.
