Independent learning will win pupils credit

Hull University is piloting a youth credit scheme as a way of offering young people formal credit for learning that takes place outside the classroom.

Coordinator Jim Dumsday said it could lead to conditional university places being offered to participating pupils. "Youth credit will quantify voluntary learning and self-development and help youngsters to demonstrate the kind of commitment that employers and university selectors are looking for," he said.
