IPR Helpdesk kicks off with Brussels launch event

Nearly 200 key players in European research came together at the launch event of the Intellectual Property Rights Helpdesk (IPR Helpdesk) in Brussels on 4 July.

The event was organised to present the activities of the newly re-launched service and highlight new features added since the end of the pilot phase in 2001, including a new web site structure and helpline.

The occasion was also used to outline the Community diffusion and protection rules in international research projects under the Sixth Framework programme for research (FP6), which are currently under discussion. Other projects participating in the Innovation and SMEs programme also presented their activities, including CORDIS, the Innovation Relay Centres network and the Gate2Growth Helpdesk.

The IPR Helpdesk aims to provide intellectual property advice to contractors taking part in Community-funded research and technological development projects and participants in international research projects.

The launch event was supported by Eurochambres (Association of European chambers of commerce and industry), UNICE (Union of industrial and employers' confederations of Europe), UEAPME (European association of craft, small and medium-sized enterprises) and the CJBB (Young bar association of Brussels).
