* Poor communication is preventing university researchers from commercially exploiting their work, according to the pressure group Save British Science.
"We recommend that universities should gear their communications' strategies more towards getting small amounts of useful information to those who may be able to use it effectively," it said in a report out this week.
"Academic researchers, university administrators, people in business and those in government exist in somewhat isolated cultures, and this can promote unhealthy distrust among different groups. Currently, links tend to be between individuals at the highest level of the different groups, not between those actively engaged in research and its applications," it noted.
