Reshmi Varma, the former director of St George's Hospital's fertility unit who claimed constructive dismissal against the school, has resolved her action amicably at an industrial tribunal.

In a joint statement this week, the medical school says that in recognition of Mrs Varma's "tireless and unselfish contribution" it will name its new IVF operating theatre after her and establish an annual lecture and prize in her name.
