Nigerian students involved in bloody protests
Students at Nigeria’s Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi protested against apparent military action that killed 200 villagers in reprisal for the deaths of 12 soldiers earlier this week. Students burned tyre barricades as more than 13 people were reported killed and three mosques set on fire.

Anthrax scare shuts British Council in Kiev
The British Council's Ukrainian head office in Kiev was closed for two days after a teacher found a packet thought to contain anthrax. Staff who handled the packet were given antibiotics as a precaution while officials from the ministry of emergency situations examined the letter. The packet was one of 11 sent to embassies and government offices on the same day.
