IoP offers 'solution' to physics teacher dearth
A physics degree that requires neither physics nor mathematics A-level could solve the chronic teacher shortage in physics, suggests a report out this week from the Institute of Physics. President Sir Peter Williams denied that the new degree was dumbing down.

'Let refugee doctors plug NHS gap'
Rules should be relaxed to help refugee doctors plug acute staff shortages in the National Health Service, Sir George Alberti, the president of the Royal College of Physicians said today. There are about 2,000 in the United Kingdom at a time when the NHS is 10,000 doctors short, according to the Liberal Democrats.

Entrepreneurial Scots win £2 million
The Scottish Institute for Enterprise, which promotes entrepreneurship education across Scotland’s higher education institutions, has won a £2 million boost from the Office of Science and Technology.
