University applications drop
Confidential preliminary totals from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service show that on 20 November 2000 the number of application forms received was about 6,000 down on the previous year.
Cambridge centre rejected
Cambridge University’s plans for a £24 million neuroscience research centre have been turned down on planning grounds. South Cambridgeshire District Council rejected the plan because the proposed site is on green belt land.
