Scientists lobby party leaders
Scientists are lobbying the political party leaders to canvass support for British research. The Save British Science organisation has been urging people to raise science issues with their local MPs and is to publish a comparison of the science policies of the main parties.
£8m management school planned for Liverpool
The University of Liverpool is to establish an £8 million management school focusing on e-learning, e-business and entrepreneurship. It will open in September 2002 and will employ more than 100 academics. Corporate donors include Liverpool Football Club, Merrill Lynch, ARM Holdings and Ford Europe.
Plea for funds for aerial archaeological surveys
More than half of Britain’s archaeological sites were discovered using aerial surveys, a report has revealed. The British Academy believes that more than the current £500,000 a year should be allocated to photographic mapping from the air.
