The new Lord Chief Justice, Lord Woolf of Barnes, has criticised a new legal practice course set up by Nottingham Law School, the BPP Law School and the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice for eight City law firms.
Delivering this year's Upjohn Lecture in London, he said: "The same City firms already recruit from the most able graduates... Their recruits are an elite. For the elite to be drawn from a small percentage of the provider colleges is bound to adversely influence the other providers."
