Level playing field for A levels

MODULAR A-level syllabuses are not easier than traditional linear courses, a review of secondary education by schools inspectors Ofsted has said. The proportion of students sitting modular courses rose from 15 per cent in 1996 to 30 per cent in 1997, and there has been a corresponding improvement in results at schools where they have been introduced.
