Leonard Nimoy, aka Star Trek's Mr Spock, will host an MIT Media Lab symposium in October. Antithesis knows this because it has been sent a pair of shoelaces to prove it.
Confused? So would Spock be in your position. Ploughing through MIT's website is not much help either - the diary only goes up to May 1997. But the symposium is likely to be one of those geek get-togethers, with lots of William Gibson wannabees in evidence. And the shoelaces? A label on the MIT package says: "Shoelaces $1 Promotional not for resale."
