* Radio astronomers at Jodrell Bank have joined the hunt for the Mars Polar Lander. The Manchester University experts are to turn their 76m antenna towards the planet to listen for signals from Nasa's lost probe.
The fate of the lander remains a mystery after contact was lost shortly before it was due to touch down in December 1999. However, traces of a faint artificial signal that may come from the probe were identified at Stanford University last week.
