Meningitis outbreak feared

Two fourth-year nursing students from Liverpool University have been admitted to hospital with suspected meningitis. The incidence of the disease rose 12 per cent in the United Kingdom last year, according to the National Meningitis Trust. The number of cases recorded in 1998 had already been registered as a 50-year high.
