Lawyers for Valentin Danilov, the Siberian scientist jailed on charges of spying for China, have lodged a new appeal with the Russian supreme court. Mr Danilov, former head of thermo-physics at Krasnoyarsk State Technical University, was sentenced to 14 years hard labour in November 2004 after a retrial that overturned his earlier acquittal on charges of selling a report containing space technology secrets to the Chinese.
