College lecturers have accepted their annual pay offer for the first time in six years.
Lecturers' union Natfhe's national executive has accepted this year's 3.3 per cent deal by 13 to eight, after member colleges voted 50 per cent to 48 per cent in favour, narrowly averting industrial action.
Natfhe general secretary Paul Mackney said that the decision was a "milestone".
Unison members in further education colleges also accepted a 3.3 per cent pay increase.
Both unions have threatened to name and shame colleges that fail to implement the award.
