The government has neglected post-16 education in its drive to raise standards in schools, according to a new book from the Institute of Education. The book's author, Ken Spours, said that the government had adopted a "toe-in-the-water" approach to post-16, largely reacting to the previous government's agenda. "Labour now needs to address some of the deeper structural problems of the education and training system," he said.
