Brussels, 14 June 2002

CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and Development Information Service, has added a new press section to its nanotechnology thematic service which offers direct and central access to projects, funding opportunities, publications and existing network details.

The new press room includes insights on the 'small' world, media briefings and a projects showcase. Examples of nano-world activities on materials, techniques or devices include applications in smart robots, electron beam lithography and DNA analysis. For each research item, journalists will find a downloadable publication as well as key illustrations.

Nanotechnology is to be allocated 700 million euro of funding under the upcoming Sixth Framework programme for research (2002-2006).
