The use of origami - the ancient art of paper folding - to improve health and safety in the handling of hazardous chemicals has been pioneered by a scientist at Nottingham Trent University. Laura Newton, a PhD student, has developed a method of using origami models to explain rules and regulations for the "control of substances hazardous to health". Her findings have been published in the Journal of Chemical Health and Safety, and she hopes to make educational origami kits available nationally.
