NUS internet role

五月 19, 2000

The National Union of Students has launched its response to the demands of students for full internet commerce services.

The union now offers free email services to its 3 million members, free webspace for every students' union in the UK, free transfer of a current site domain name from an existing website provider and a shop-front style e-commerce section so union shops can go online. The NUS will also provide a free computer for every students' union that needs one.

The NUS site, developed by Lanarkshire services provider ITM, will offer information about NUS policy, advice and helpline links, information about student-related issues and details on national and local activities.

Lifestyle content will include discounts, events information, diary dates, video feeds, online postcards and a messaging service. As the technology becomes available, online radio and TV will be added.

Students' union officers will be able to access events diaries, membership communications, topic and issue voting, a national news section, public release documents and internal briefings.
