Manchester University is investigating how a man jailed for attempting to poison his wife got a job at the institution as a part-time lecturer in philosophy and medical ethics.
Paul Agutter, who tried to murder his wife and then cover his tracks by spiking products at a supermarket with the same poison, served seven years of a 12-year sentence he received in 1995. But between October and December last year he taught for two hours a week on a Manchester adult education course.
