Brussels, 12 Oct 2005
A conference entitled 'Public Private Partnerships in the Regions - building the European Research Area', will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 18 October. The conference is organised by PRELUDE challenge, the follow-up initiative to the Promoting European local and regional sustainability in the digital economy (PRELUDE) project, an accompanying measure funded under the information society technologies (IST) programme of the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5).
The conference will analyse, through two panels, the role of regions in forming and supporting public-private partnerships (PPPs), and the role of research in the regions. PPPs will also be taken into consideration with regard to the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), in particular how PPPs can be related to Regions of Knowledge and the importance of the role of regions in getting small companies up to European speed.
