Programme grants provide support for up to five years for research that cannot be carried out in the short-term. This scheme is designed to enable researchers to establish longer-term programmes of work and retain teams of research workers without having to repeatedly seek funds.
The level of support available will depend upon the scientific needs of the programme, but should not exceed £100,000 per annum. In the first instance, a two-page outline of the proposed research should be submitted.
