THE Environment Agency has ordered Royal Holloway College to stop accumulating radioactive waste on its campus at Egham, Surrey. An enforcement notice was issued after a routine inspection last month revealed nine drums of low-level radioactive waste from the biochemistry department had been kept for almost two years. It should be disposed of within three months. The notice could stop research using radioactive materials for up to three months, but bursar Roy Miller said steps were being taken to minimise any delay.
