The earth systems and environmental sciences table was topped by the University of Cambridge, with a GPA of 3.72.
In second was the University of Bristol (3.67), followed in third by the University of Birmingham (3.63).
When ordered by research power, however, the table is topped by the University of Leeds (joint 10th on GPA) and the University of Edinburgh (joint 17th)
Leeds and Edinburgh also have the highest likely funding share, though Edinburgh is funded by the Scottish Funding Council, rather than Research England.
At a national level the Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences UoA has a GPA of 3.38, with 48 per cent of its submission rated 4*. 1781.77 FTE staff were submitted to this UoA.
