It must be a strange existence when you leave a high-profile job. The phone stops ringing, the press no longer seek your opinion and you might easily get the idea that no one cares. No such worries though for Jim Murphy, recent ex-president of the National Union of Students. Any doubts that he may have had that anybody cares about his moral and spiritual well-being should have been swept away by Labour MP Ken Livingstone, who told a meeting of the Campaign for Free Education that "I think we should all pray for Jim Murphy's soul".
