Riveting event of the week was clearly last week's Committee of Vice Chancellors and Principals main committee meeting, when the debate was so exciting that at one stage Sir Brian Follett, vice chancellor of Warwick fell off his chair - and ensured that everyone knew what had happened by striking a live microphone on his way to the floor.
