SEDA was set up in 1993 when the Standing Conference on Educational Development joined with the SRHE's Staff Development Group in order to develop a professional standard in higher education teaching. SEDA now recognises 60 programmes of training for lecturers and more than 0 lecturers have received accreditation. The programmes are devised by universities and then validated by SEDA against national criteria. Most are in the new university sector although UCL, Nottingham, Exeter and Sussex also have recognised programmes.
