A House of Lords committee has launched a high-speed inquiry into student mobility in Europe. The starting point is the European Commission's plan for the development of community-wide higher education programmes.
The sub-committee of the Lord's European Communities Committee will compile evidence on the state of student mobility and will review two key issues for the United Kingdom - the imbalance in the flow between the UK and the rest of the community and the pressure on UK universities generated by the demand for English-language tuition. Peers hope to complete the investigation by the end of March and produce a report soon after the Easter recess.
