League tables of qualifications should carry a Government health warning, a leading educationalist will tell conference today. Professor Roger Murphy, outgoing president of the British Educational Research Association, is set to tell the Bera annual conference at Lancaster University: "There is a massive amount of assessment data and what's worrying me is that it isn't being well used." He wants assessments to be recorded so that tables measure individuals' progress and take into account their ethnicity and social class.
